Lead Caregiver/Child Teacher

Alyssa is so excited to be a part of the Bubbles community! Alyssa has worked professionally as a teaching artist throughout Chicago & its suburbs for 14 years. She believes that we should always listen to and trust young people. Alyssa has taught storytelling, acting, collaboration, health education, conflict resolution, literacy, and social-emotional learning to humans of all ages.

As a theatre artist, she has helped create many Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) productions, including performing in Six Stories Tall by Marco Ramirez, Still Life With Iris by Steven Dietz, and Epic Tales from the Land of Melanin, which she co-wrote! As an audience member, TYA always sparks imagination and wonder for Alyssa. She truly believes that theatre for young audiences is theatre for all audiences.

Alyssa is a grad of Northwestern University, where she studied and made a whole lot of theatre — especially theatre for social justice and social-emotional learning. As a teacher, she utilizes tools like creative drama, aesthetic education, and other arts integration and participatory play methodologies. After all, play is how we learn about ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Play is how we grow!

Alyssa loves to learn, too, and is a student of Afro-Puerto Rican bomba drumming and dance. She’s also always learning from the amazing teachers at Bubbles. Find her singing songs, reading picture books, and laughing really loudly. She hopes to meet you soon!
