Join The Village for strategies and support for the 4th Trimester, and obtain advice from some of the best experts in Chicago. Weekly meet-ups include expert guests on child development topics as well as unique bonding experiences like baby’s first music class, sensory art, and parent & baby yoga.

The Details
- Meets every Tuesday from 2-3 PM at North Branch 2211 N.
- Elston $25 per class (Session and drop-in enrollment available)
- Recommended for parents of babies ages 0-6 months
A portion of your class fee goes to providing support for new parents in underserved areas of Chicago through Advocates for Adolescent Mothers and Association House of Chicago, via Whole Child Arts.

5/24 – Baby Sensory Art
It isn’t too early to cultivate and nurture your baby’s inner artist! Babies can benefit from the expressive, exploratory and sensory nature of the visual arts. Sensory art stations are designed to enhance your baby’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development through the creative process… plus you leave with a super cute keepsake: Baby’s first art project! (With Licensed Art Therapist, Caroline Tye LCPC, ATR-BC, Dandelion Art Studio)
5/31- Building Connections & Stimulating your Baby’s Development
Session one will focus on relationship and community building through processing your birth story and your sense of the “new normal”. We’ll follow this with a crash course in how to help your baby meet their developmental milestones through a discussion of Child Development Theory and sample activities like Baby Sign Language, Music, Movement and more. (With Samantha Maxwell, Bubbles Academy)
6/7 - New Parent Postpartum Recovery Yoga
Being a new parent is challenging! This session is designed for parents to sneak in some “me-time” to connect, strengthen and energize from the daily demands of taking care of kiddos and trying to do it all! (with Diana Zic, Cocoon Care)
6/14 - Exploring your New Identity as a Parent
So much of our identities in the new-born stage is tied to the role of being a parent. But we know that you are multifaceted and are more than a parent, you have other identities. In this session, we’ll discuss the other identities that matter to you and how you can reconnect to yourself and embrace all parts of who you are now. Together we’ll explore what parts of your identity have been put aside and how we can uncover those parts of ourselves in parenthood. (With Ria Pretekin, UrbanOhana)
6/21 – Baby’s First Music Class
Nurture baby’s development through live music and movement. Babies and caregivers will enjoy bonding, growing and making new connections through learning experiences such as: instrument play, sign language, rhymes and finger-plays, tummy-time and expert guidance from Bubbles Academy teaching artists. (With Miss Sophia, Bubbles Academy)
6/28 – Early Speech Development
Learn how to support early speech development through baby sign, songs and modeling.(With Katie Dimond, Crossroads Therapy)
7/5 – Baby and Me Yoga
Bond and relax with your baby through a gentle introduction to yoga poses and flows that support flexibility, strength building and recovery. (With Erin Bracco, Buddha Belly Kids Yoga)
